About My Cavco Home

Our Story

My wife ("Pretty Lady") and I ("Fat Guy") were looking to build a house on our 4.14 acre property.  We had purchased the property for $55,000 back in 2011.  The property was paid off at the time we decided to build and we were only paying taxes (approximately $1K) annually.

In 2021, we decided we were ready to build. We lived for 14 years in an HOA we were ready to move.

How it started

In 2021, we decided to build.  We had lived in an HOA for the last 14 years and our teenagers were starting to drive.  We started receiving HOA letters about having too many cars.  We met up with a drafter and started designing our dream home.  The home ended up being 4,000+ square feet.

An Alternate Solution

Pretty Lady and I had a dilemma.  We were looking for something that would meet our needs for the kids, but still would be affordable for us in retirement.  The house we drafted would have cost $750K+.  We scoured the internet for the perfect floorplan and found it at Palm Harbor.  We settled on the Magnum model.  It was available in a 32' x 76' version.  We got the 3 bedroom version, as the 4 bedroom version's bedrooms were too small.

The LONG story.

This will document the experience Pretty Lady and I have had regarding our sales, delivery, setup and completion experience.  Bear with the story it is still evolving and there is a lot to document.
